Being in a Forest

Being in a forest as the light pours in. Walking barefoot on moss. Midnight wanders in wild places. Coffee and clouds. Dawn and dusk. Skinny dipping. Moonlight and the Milky Way. Picnics and poetry. The perfect sentence. Dancing with the wind. Walks in the rain. Food from the garden. Music, songs, and singing. When the leaves turn gold. Being enraptured by a sky of stars. Watching a tortoise walk All the things to still learn. All the trees to love. The ecstasy of finishing a perfect meal. Contemplating the great mysteries of existence. Bats. Owls. Ravens. Storms. Dreams. Moths. Mountain ash. The song of a hermit thrush. The smell of lilac. The euphoria of petrichor. Laughing hysterically for hours on end. The susurrus sound of rustling leaves. The call of...

Mother Night: Weekly Online Course for Women

Join Phoenix Arrien as she guides us through Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés's archetypal imagination course in “Mother Night, the quintessential medial woman, the woman who can walk in tw o worlds … 'the one who knows' and who can reveal solid ways of living and unleashing creative life in both worlds.” The program Mother Night is presented online from Clarissa, a  Jungian psychoanalyst and author of Women Who Run With the Wolves, interspersed with sharing, exercises and reflections, over 6 weeks, as we tap the generative...

WARMING THE STONE CHILD

WARMING THE STONE CHILD - Healing for the unmothered child Just about everyone has inner children that need connecting with and healing, we invite you on this helpful and accessible healing journey in community. The inner child or younger parts that are locked away in our psyches holding unresolved issues around overwhelming experiences in childhood are also a metaphorical and collective mythic symbol that can be worked with. The pain of abandonment, both real and metaphorical, can cast a shadow over our entire adult experience. Join me as we embark on a three week course by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, author of Women Who Run With The Wolves, alongside sharing and reflection to gently and lovingly explore the abandoned child archetype in world myths and cultures. Dates: Wednesday evenings 8, 15...

Mike’s book list

I often get asked what books I recommend for people on their journey of healing. There are a few in the two Resources pages on this website, but here is a somewhat longer list: Some of the first books I read in this vein were by the psychiatrist and teacher M. Scott Peck, and they are still classics and a great starting point for many. Start with The Road Less Traveled - and then go on to read A Different Drum - a wonderful book about community; and People of the Lie - a classic work about the nature of evil. Basically I'd recommend anything he has written, and it is very approachable and readable. A few other classics Homecoming by John Bradshaw  - a great course in...
