Restorative yoga:
This has been a game changer for your teacher Phoenix Arrien. She has resolved much of previous body pain, vertigo, migraines and stress through this gentle yoga.
Restorative yoga is a restful practice that helps you slow and open your body through passive stretching, breath and slowness.
In this kind of yoga you do not move much, it is more about settling and letting go into the poses that are designed to help you release tension without much effort.
This practice of deep relaxation emphasises the meditative aspect of yoga—the union of body and mind. Through the use of props for support, many of the postures are held effortlessly.
Restorative yoga is very useful for stress relief, increased relaxation, better sleep, improved wellbeing, is a mood uplifter, helps with pain reduction and is very gentle and supportive of your body joints. It can be done by most people regardless of age and ability.
Practicalities:
We will be outside in nature if good weather and/or in a Marquee with rugs, cushions and chairs, heater or fan. The house has a fridge if needed and a comfortable gathering lounge space and fireplace if weather is challenging.
Outside of the program or if you stay the night before or night after, you can relax on the hammock, watch the birdlife, reflect by the river, explore the forest walking trails or do nothing at all. Relaxing and fulfilling time is offered according to what you feel like.
We have the ideal location and experiences for a relaxing day for you to later emerge with less tension and stress and more clarity, ease and energy.
Location:
Mountain Riverside SoulSong Sanctuary is an eco-friendly retreat, just over an hour from Melbourne but a world away from the city, consisting of 2 beautiful acres of tall trees and lush ferns bordered by a burbling brook and backed by state forest. Birds and wildlife visit, the air is fresh and you can see the sky in the day and stars at night. People find it very tranquil and welcoming.
A house with a lovely back deck with views to forest and creek grace the property, along with accommodation, camping and a heated/fanned marquee for group gathering.
Enquiries for private days for your group, workplace, family, friends day out, etc are welcome.

Testimonials:
“The work that [you] do is beyond your wildest dreams. A safe place to face that which scares you most and embrace that which empowers you and allows you to reconnect with your best self; one that you may have even forgotten. I feel so blessed that your paths have intertwined and will keep these magical souls in my heart and in my life.” – Anthea Merson
“[You both] created and held a space which allowed me to go where traditional psychotherapy has not allowed me to go. Thank you. I have immense gratitude and respect for the work you both do with both love and compassion that is so evident. I felt safe and was able to openly express my emotions without fear or judgement among my tribe. I’m filled with a deep sense of calm and leave with an open heart and a thirst for gathering in your safe presence again.
I am lost for words to describe anymore of what I feel and have felt the past 48 hours so I shall leave it at that and sit with love, connection and warmth that is overflowing. With love and gratitude.” – Angela Scott.
“Your ability to create safe space, and hold it with and for our group was magical. I loved being in the bush environment, connecting so deeply and having opportunity to explore new paradigms. It was an amazing opportunity to feel and shift some old stuff in a such a real and safe way, and with such gentle and kind support.
As things are starting to settle and integrate, I’m really starting to notice some things that have changed and improved for me. Here’s a few of them:
-
I haven’t had a migraine since leaving the retreat!! My longest break in years! Almost a miracle! I’m now re-pondering my migraine causes and management
-
Feeling joy in simple things for the first time in years
-
Feeling more playful – finding myself laughing more, and generally lighter & brighter
-
Have been drawn back to Zumba, and am experiencing joy in dance again
-
Feeling more confidence, inspiration, energy and enthusiasm
-
Noticeable improvements in clarity in my thinking and ability to communicate
-
I’ve had some interesting and very real conversations that I couldn’t have had before without experiencing emotional overwhelm.
-
Feeling drawn to connect – reaching out to people that I’ve known for a while, but not really connected with. Generally, wanting to be around people more.
